Ceramic surfaces are fired into a dense, non-porous slab, which is why they cope with heat, scratching, UV and moisture better than most countertop materials. Our ceramic range includes Dekton and ĒCLOS by Cosentino, Laminam and Nuovo Corso, in finishes from matt concrete looks to polished marble effects. Videa Stone supplies the material and takes it all the way: templating, cutting, edge profiling and installation, including precise 45 degree mitred joints for a monolithic countertop edge.

Every ceramic countertop here is templated on site, cut and finished in our own workshop in Latvia, then delivered across Northern Europe and fitted and jointed on arrival. Frequently asked questions about ceramic countertops

Are ceramic countertops heat resistant?

Yes, ceramic is the most heat tolerant of the countertop materials we fabricate. There is no resin in the slab, so you can set a hot pan down without the surface marking or discolouring. It is still sensible to use a trivet for cast iron straight off the hob, mainly to protect the pan and the joint lines.

Do ceramic countertops need sealing?

No. Ceramic slabs are non-porous, so liquids sit on the surface rather than soaking in and there is no sealer to reapply. Cleaning is straightforward: warm water, a mild detergent and a soft cloth. Matt finishes show fingerprints and limescale marks a little more than polished ones, so wipe them dry after use.

Can ceramic be used outdoors?

Yes. Ceramic is UV stable and unaffected by moisture, so the colour holds up in an outdoor kitchen, on a garden island or as facade cladding. The same properties make it a good choice for wet rooms and bathrooms. Tell us where the surface is going and we will advise on thickness and support before fabrication.

How are ceramic countertop edges finished?

With a 45 degree mitred joint. Ceramic comes in slim slab formats, so a deeper edge is built up rather than cut from the solid: we cut both pieces at 45 degrees and bond them so the joint line all but disappears. That work happens in our workshop from your template, and the finished countertop is then fitted on site.
