Dekton is Cosentino's ultracompact surface, a sintered slab made from mineral raw materials pressed and fired into a dense, non-porous body. It handles heat, scratching, UV light and moisture, which is why it is used for kitchen countertops, outdoor kitchens, bathrooms and cladding alike. Cosentino makes the material; Videa Stone supplies it and does the rest. We template your space, cut and shape each Dekton countertop to your measurements, mitre the edges and install the finished countertop.
Every Dekton countertop here is templated on site, cut and finished in our own workshop in Latvia, then delivered across Northern Europe and fitted and jointed on arrival. Because it is UV stable, meaning the colour does not fade in sunlight, the same Dekton slab works indoors and outdoors, and on window sills or stair treads. What is Dekton?
Dekton is an ultracompact sintered surface made by Cosentino. Mineral raw materials are pressed and fired into a slab with almost no porosity, which gives it a different character to engineered quartz: no resin binder, so heat and UV are far less of a concern. It is sold in large formats and in a wide range of colours and finishes.
Is Dekton heat and scratch resistant?
Yes on both counts. There is no resin in a Dekton slab, so a hot pan will not scorch or discolour it the way it can mark quartz, and the fired surface resists scratching from everyday kitchen use. We still recommend a chopping board for knife work, because cutting directly on any hard surface blunts the blade.
Can Dekton be used outdoors?
Yes. Dekton is UV stable and does not absorb water, so it holds its colour in an outdoor kitchen, on an island or as external cladding, and it is unaffected by frost and rain. The same slab can run from an indoor countertop out to a terrace, which is a common way to keep a kitchen and garden reading as one space.
Does Dekton need sealing?
No. Dekton is non-porous, so there is no sealer to apply now or to renew later. Wipe it with warm water and a mild detergent; for stubborn marks a non-abrasive cream cleaner is enough. Avoid hydrofluoric acid based products, as with any sintered or ceramic surface, and never use wire wool on a polished finish.
